During 2011, when this settlement was negotiated, NJ.Com reported that “Gov. Chris Christie’s first budget cut $819.5 million in aid to local school districts — a 7 percent decrease in the state’s largest expense.” Mr. Christie, that shrewd negotiator, is now Mr. Trump’s transition team leader. 

The sketchy relationship between the New Jersey governor and the Republican presidential nominee took a new twist after a New York Times report showed that Trump’s $30 million casino tax debt, something New Jersey officials fought endlessly to collect, suddenly was slashed after Christie took office in 2010. – 2016/08/18
