Do ZIP Codes Matter? Of Course

The NYTimes recently posted an invitation for teachers in urban areas across the country to respond to the question of whether ZIP Codes matter in public education…. and the replies are no surprise. Of course they matter! Apart from one charter school teacher in Newark who returned to the school she attended and implied that grit and hard work can overcome adversity, every other teacher cited glaring examples of inquiry that resulted from where a child was born.
