This idea is sound… but… in pitting the police union against the nurses union and, yes, the teachers union and, oh,the taxpayers, the GOP and the DNC neo-liberals who are OK with privatization will likely crush all three unions. The GOP will do it in the name of “lower taxes” and “less government” while the neo-liberals will do it in the name of “efficiency” and “private-public partnerships”. The net result will be lower wages and longer working hours for police, nurses, and teachers, higher property taxes for most voters, and MAYBE a repeal of the Trump tax cuts, which will be presented as “taxing the rich”.

The result of this shell game will be an even greater economic divide as we re-define “middle class” to an even lower wage level and allow the pre-Trump wealth transfer to continue unabated. The shareholders will be happy, though.
