The GOP is completely shameless in allowing this argument to see the light of day. Not only has their party cut the finds for school meals AND the funds for food stamps, they have endorsed the gutting of nutrition standards for school meals– a grievous decision that is not even mentioned in this article. And I do not fault the Trump administration for this argument: the Republican Party endorsed every Cabinet nominee put forth by the POTUS and did so with no equivocation. It is the head of every agency responsible for providing food to the hungry that created this deplorable set of circumstances.
