As posts on this blog have indicated from the outset of the pandemic, the impact of the COVID outbreak will have both a long term and short term impact on public schools. That bad news was initially under-reported. The good news is that the story is now being shared widely. Here’s a sentence that offers a succinct description of the reality administrators face NOW:

All told, district leaders don’t know how much money they’re getting, and they also don’t know how much they will really need.

The fact that this is being reported now is good news, as is the fact that this article describes how this will play out for years to come. If I were still a superintendent I would put a link to this article in my weekly newsletter and archive for reference in my 2012-22 file, because the public will forget when the time comes to make some VERY tough decisions when budget season comes in New England in November through February.
