What Politicians DO is FAR More Important than What They SAY…. and the Same isTrue for Unions
The reopening of schools is now the hot COVID topic… and the teachers unions seem to be shouldering the blame for the failure of the schools to open among GOP politicians. This is no surprise given the GOP’s longstanding complaints about unions. What is surprising and aggravating is the way these same politicians who refused to fund school lunch programs, increased funding to upgrade facilities in districts serving children raised in poverty, or ANY social programs designed to help children of color are now claiming that they are “on their side” because they want to reopen schools! When the politicians who want schools reopened are ready to pay for the PPE, facilities upgrades, and compensatory programs needed to help underfunded schools I will believe them. But until then, I share the same concerns as the unions.
