RI Race Redux: NEA Suit Against Parent for FOIA Requests Stirs the Fox Forces, Helps Keep CRT in the News
There is an aphorism that to activists, any news coverage is good news… and to the anti-CRT forces nothing could make them happier than the news that the Big Bad NEA is suing an innocent parent who is just trying to make sure their poor child is not being exposed to a “woke” philosophy. Here’s a quote from the NYPost article linked below:
C ontroversy over the teaching of critical race theory, which states that America’s founding, laws and institutions are based on white supremacy, has rocked the country’s school districts throughout the summer — often pitting school boards and teachers’ unions against parents and elected officials.
The NEA is in a lose-lose predicament here. Saying nothing when a parent like Ms. Solis engaged in implicitly slanderous probed opens the door to McCarthyism while taking action sustains the “evil unions” narrative that the right wing news loves AND sustains a national narrative based on a local issue.
This brings to mind another political aphorism attributed to George Bernard Shaw: Never wrestle with a pig. The pig likes it and you both get dirty.
Vote even if you think it doesn’t matter…. and be grateful you still can!
